BOLERO DE BIENVENIDA
PREMIERE MARCH 2023, LES PRINTEMPS DE SÉVELIN/ Théâtre Sévelin 36, Lausanne (CH)

Dance piece supported by PREMIO SCHWEIZ

I felt the urgency not to be at the centre, but to be at the service of something bigger than myself.
I said: "decentralise the figure of the performer on stage".
So I imagined Bolero de Bienvenida, a ritual space where I could be a performer-shaman and welcome in my body the space that surrounds me and what disappears before my eyes.
They say that when someone dies, it is the sound of their voice that is forgotten first.

In Bolero de Bienvenida, Lorena Stadelmann continues her research around the voice. She chooses singing as a performative tool to insert a story or narrative material inside her choreographies.

Collector of megaphones, she uses these objects to amplify her voice. Singing a lullaby through a megaphone as a claim to sensitivity and poetry.

For Bolero de Bienvenida, Lorena Stadelmann continues to develop her visual work through her research into textile practices by making masks, costumes and scenographic elements.
